Dr. McCain-Schroeder is a Minnesota native. She graduated from Hartwick College with Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology and Business Administration. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in 2024.
Ally was first exposed to the profession of optometry during college after she struggled with visual side effects after a traumatic brain injury. She utilized vision therapy during recovery and the results improved her quality of life and pushed her to pursue a career in vision care.
During her graduate training, she gravitated toward specialty clinics in pediatrics and vision therapy. From her experience as a patient, she hopes to provide encouragement and compassion to improve patient outcomes, just as she received as a patient. She is currently a SUNY resident in Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Vision Therapy.
Outside of clinic she enjoys hiking around the state, swimming, and crochet.
