EyeCare Associates is a perfect melding of multiple optometric practices. Drs. Carl Gruning and Lee Mellinger established the practice in Fairfield over 45 years ago. Dr. Randy Schulman has been in practice in Norwalk and Trumbull for 25 years, and Dr. Stephen Carr has been practicing in Trumbull for over 20 years. With their combined expertise, Drs. Schulman and Carr formed EyeCare Associates, PC, along with Dr. Narvan Bennett and Dr. Brian Rodrigues. Together, we focus on providing exceptional vision care in the areas of contact lenses, ocular disease, and behavioral and integrative care for patients of all ages.
Our goal is to ensure that patients gain a thorough understanding of how to maintain healthy eyes and vision, while being treated with the utmost care. We perform routine eye exams and advanced testing, diagnose functional vision problems, prescribe eyeglasses, fit contact lenses, and offer vision therapy. We encourage regular vision examinations, and look forward to providing our patients with long-term care! Dr. Randy Schulman
Dr. Schulman has been practicing for nearly 25 years in Fairfield County. She specializes in vision therapy, pediatrics, learning disabilities and preventative, integrative and alternative vision care for all ages.
Dr. Omar Munshi
Behavioral Optometrist, Primary Care Optometrist
Dr. Munshi received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with Advanced Studies in Binocular and Pediatric Vision. A native of Connecticut, he received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from Fairfield University. Dr. Munshi decided to pursue a career in optometry after working as a vision therapist for EyeCare Associates for nearly two years prior to obtaining his Doctorate degree.
He has had extensive training in vision therapy for patients of all ages who present with a wide range of ocular and neuro-visual rehabilitation needs. Dr. Munshi has completed clinical rotations focusing on primary eye care, binocular vision, and ocular disease. In addition, he has training in pre- and post-operative care enabling him to provide comprehensive eye care to all patients.
Dr. Tanya Ayzikovich
Behavioral Optometrist, Primary Care Optometrist
Dr. Ayzikovich graduated magna cum laude from Boston University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Anthropolology. She then worked for three years as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Weill Cornell Medical College. She graduated with her Doctorate in Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in May 2017.
Dr. Ayzikovich is serving as the 2017-2018 Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Resident at EyeCare Associates.
Dr. Aaron Nichols
Vision-Rehabilitation Resident, Primary Care Optometrist
Dr. Nichols graduated from Ferris State University in Michigan with a B.S. in Biology in 2014. Upon completion from Ferris, he enrolled at Illinois College of optometry to pursue his optometry degree. While in optometry school he was involved in several clubs, including secretary of the College of Optometrist in Visual Development (COVD). He has attended several national meetings and developed his interest for neuro-optometric and vision-rehabilitation cases during his studies. He graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in May 2018.
He gained experience in pediatric patients, vision therapy, and comprehensive exams during his fourth year rotations. During his rotations, he interned here at EyeCare Associates, P.C. He completed both eye exams and vision therapy sessions during his time here. He also had extensive training on various eye diseases and contact lens fittings. Dr. Nichols is comfortable providing care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Evan Tirado
Dr. Tirado is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry where he was honored with multiple awards and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa national honor society. He also served on the executive council for the American Optometric Student Association where he worked on forwarding issues important to optometry students nationwide. Dr. Tirado has completed clinical rotations in primary care, and binocular vision and has trained in ocular disease at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Hospital in Miami, Florida. Prior to attending optometry school he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University and has an Associates in Ophthalmic Science.
Dr. Tirado cares for a wide range of patients and performs exams for ocular health, functional vision, contact lenses, vision therapy and pre/post -op care.
